Art + Engineering

This page is titled 'blog' but it doesn't quite fit that description.  This is a more of a collection of projects I've done over the years.  Some grand, some pretty simple, but all are original works.

Wall Mounted Silverware

I was house-sitting for a friend while she was out of town, and her cottage needed help.

The flow was way off and she had no storage or room for a closet area. Because of the door configuration, every wall was needed to be clear for traffic. With permission, I:

  1. Improved the flow by popping out the sliding glass door and flipping it around. This cleared some floor space for stationary furniture while doubling up on traffic space.
  2. Lofted her bed creating plenty of space underneath the bed for a closet and plenty of other things.
  3. Mounted her silverware on the wall using a great set of cobalt blue pint glasses and leftover scrap from a handrail project. This created organisation while freeing up counter space. For symmetry I created shelves on the other side.

The holes ended up being 3", the perfect size for the pint glass

Symmetrical shelving split by the mirror.  In a small space its important to have a lot of shelving.

This is the bedroom/living room area. In a small space it is important to utilize both the height and the width of the room. The bed was raised to create a full closet; equipped with a hanging rod for clothes
